Where did you find that. I went to:
http://smharchives.smedia.com.au/Olive/APA/freesearch/Default.aspx

It didnt show anything when I searched Hughes Elizabeth and put date range as 1974 / 1974

I used http://smharchives.smedia.com.au/Olive/APA/smharchive/Default.aspx#panel=browse
If you use "Browse" instead of "Search" (as I knew the date from the NSW BDM) then you can see the year "1974" along the top of the screen and months down the left hand side, then click on the date and browse through to death notices.

There's probably an easier way ( ;D ) but I find the search function on that website quite unhelpful.

OK, I think you need to have a subscription for that as when I click on it it says "Your login session is expired, You should sign in again"

Hi,

Daveoz, are you sure the lady you re identifying and who you note as  marrying in 1950 is no longer living?    There's a death notice INDEXED at Ryerson for Ernest Edgar EVANS, aged 85, late of Crows Nest for SMH 16 June 1995.

Had you considered a second marriage?

Reg 9067 Year 1950
EVANS Ernest Edgar
HUGHES Marion Elizabeth
At NORTH SYDNEY

Sue

Yes, its in original post. However I dont know for sure if this is her, just guessing it is.
I dont know if James died at war or if they divorced.

His posting at discharge was "recruit reception depot" as shown on the link I posted.

I have no idea if she is alive or dead. I just assumed she would be due to being born in 1914.

 :)

Never assume !   :)   In NSW there's many a living person born earlier than 1914 ... including at least three who regularly read threads that I post on.    :)    They would likely expect me to mention a quote attributed to Mark Twain   http://www.twainquotes.com/Death.html

Sue has found a possible death indexed for a Marion for 1984, but the index does not include given names for either of the parents of that person.
