Possible date please for one of my bailey or gipson family members
« on: Sunday 05 November 17 10:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

not a great image (quality wise), but could someone have a go at a date please.  Photo is mounted on a thick card (difficult to bend)  with a front thin card wallet and tissue lining.

no writing on back.

regards christian

I'm not entirely sure Christian, it could even be 1950s but I don't think it's earlier than 1940s

Yes it looks sort of 40's  The front looks a bit like school photos I have in that timeframe as does the coat and hairstyle. However the thick card bothers me, that is more like the previous century. Still no reason a special photo of a little child should not be on a thicker medium. School photos were not though.

I will need to go back to my mums cousin where i got the pic.  If the picture is as late as this, then theres a chance she will know who it is (with a second look),

thanks alot for your time

cheers Pelican

I must say it is the Card stock that is throwing me off also.  The Style looks too new for the card and wallet.  Ill have another chat with my mums cousin and see if she has any ideas.  If it is 40s then theres a name i can put to her (another cousin) 1 boy born early 40s.  Between the 20's and 40's there were nine cousins born 8 girls and 1 boy!!

thanks again

christian

He's wearing socks...the card stock does bother me too...I have a similar one dated to 1920s but without the tissue protector and folder but the clothing style is different. I think the coat could be home made or has been taken up.
