Hi everyone,

Is anybody here on sheffieldhistory.co.uk?

I have been trying to register there in the hope of finding something which might help in my "Rose Peck" search.

However, the website tells me that my application must be approved. This was several days ago and I have not received a reply. I tried writing to the website, but again, no answer.

There are new threads and answers on the website, so it is definitely still active.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Presumably, like most FH societies, this is run by volunteers?

So, maybe the person who does the approving is on holiday? Or unwell? Or busy with other things in their life?

You just have to be patient!

I've been doing my Family History for over 40 years now - and I tend to think that waiting a week or so doesn't really hurt?

I have no idea how these things work. 
With most websites, it is almost instantaneous these days - you get an automatic mail asking you to confirm that you really want to sign up, you click, and that's it.

I hadn't thought about the possibility of someone actually doing it all manually... 

Edit: One of the Rootschatters in my "Peck" thread applied for registration today and was accepted. Maybe the website doesn't like my foreign E-Mail address...

I applied again, using an E-Mail address with a .com ending instead of .de, but that didn't help, either. I am wondering if it blocks foreign IP addresses.

I have emailed 'Support' asking them what the possible problem is for you.

Meanwhile, if you want to email me with a suitable message, I can attempt to put that on the website somewhere.

I don't know if you nudged them into action  but I have received a mail saying I have been accepted. (Many thanks!)

I have now entered out story on their website.

The more, the merrier...
