Boer Imperial Yeomanry
« on: Monday 06 November 17 00:00 GMT (UK) »
My grandfather, from Dublin, was a Yeoman, if that is the right and proper word, in the Boer War.

I have found good civilian records but come up empty on his service.

Can anyone direct me to where I might glean something without cost?

He also played in the Leinster Schools Challenge Cup at Blackrock in 1893-94. I've contacted Blackrock with no response.

Thank you for any assistance.

Tim.

Excellent gortonboy, thank you.
Is there any way of learning when he would have signed on and then gotten out.

While a couple of years in some god-awful ditch is significant, I am trying to piece together his time prior, which was at Blackrock College and his time after, here in Canada.

Thanks again.

Tim.

Ah yes, thanks. I wasn't familiar with the terms "raised" and "perpetuated."
