Thomas Claydon born 1846 Middle Aston
« on: Monday 06 November 17 16:33 GMT (UK) »
Thomas Claydon was baptised at Steeple Aston on 06 September 1846, s/o Thomas and Anne Claydon - their youngest child.  He variously states his birth place as Steeple Aston or Middle Aston but the latter was correct as his parents were consistently living in Cow Lane there.

I have found him in the 1851 and 1871 censuses onwards to his death in 1903 but I can't find him anywhere in 1861 when he was approx. 15 years old.  Like at least one of his brothers he became a Draper.  In 1771 he is living with a Frederick Palmby at Deptford, possibly New Cross Road, census is difficult to read.  Ancestry have this entry grossly miss-transcribed for all occupants but FamilySearch correct.

Can anyone find him in 1861 for me please as I've hit a brick wall on it.   ???

That probably explains it, most frustrating.   :'(

Lots of areas in Oxfordshire where he might have been and ditto Middlesex if he was apprenticed to a Draper there.

Hi Rosie99,

Yes, in 1861 they are living in Cow Lane, Middle Aston with their daughter Fanny and her illegitimate son, Henry.  They seem to have spent all their married lives there, Thomas a groom and Anne a schoolmistress.

I've been able to trace Thomas' parents from Thomas senior's baptism, marriage to Anne Leaver, their children's baptisms, censuses and to their burials - Anne in 1873 and Thomas senior in 1890.

It's just Thomas junior that I can't find in 1861, frustratingly.  :-\
