Hi,

I am french and I search informations about Charles William Mac Farlane, son of Edward John Mac Farlane and Florence Felton who was born in Aden (Arabia) on 30.07.1898 and who migrated to Canada about 1925. Is Charles William settled Canada ? Thank you for your answers.

Hello Arnaud,

Do you know what part of Canada Charles came to around 1925?

I have been looking through immigration lists to see if I can find him - and find out where he went in Canada.  So far, I have not been able to find him (using the names Charles and Karel and using the names MacFarlane and McFarlane).

Library and Archives Canada Immigration records:
1925-1935 passenger list here
https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/immigration-records/passenger-lists-border-entry-1925-1935/Pages/introduction.aspx

1919-1924 Ocean Arrivals are here (these are hard to search.  These records are also on Ancestry, and it is easier to search them using Ancestry)
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/mass-digitized-archives/ocean-arrivals/Pages/ocean-arrivals.aspx?PHPSESSID=pgu74hjaupu9qmj7ao9j21gtb3

He may have come in from the United States?

Do you have any more information about Charles that would help?

The passenger list you posted seems to be for Anvers.. did he move to Belgium later?

Thank you RK,

I haven't got other informations about Charles William Mac Farlane, he was captain in the 5th batallion of Warwickshire REgiment during the First World War. He was married with a french lady at Cambrai (France) in december 1919, he have got a son who was born at Cambrai in 1923 and the couple divorced in 1925. I lose his traces. So, it's the only document discover on the web who learn tome he migrate to Canada about 1925.

Hello again,

I cannot find a record showing that Charles came to Canada.

I can see the Antwerp, Belgium index record on familysearch.  Familysearch says the reference number for Karel/Charles is 175800.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6QQ9-VPP?i=625&cc=1477769

The index numbers refer to records here:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L99H-565D?owc=waypoints&wc=M6TS-5TY%3A341822701&cc=2023926

175800 is for a different person. I wonder if the fourth number is something else.  I have checked 175100 (appears to be missing.. is a 175099 and a 175101), 175400, 175700, 175800 and 175900.  I can't find Charles's record.  Have you found it?  Is that where you found the information that he went to Canada?

The Charles MacFarlane who went to Canada in 1923 was from Cupar, Fife in Scotland.

MacFarlane isn't that uncommon a name in the British Isles so you can't assume they are all related.
