Spratt's from Fermanagh
« on: Tuesday 07 November 17 14:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me find more info on the Spratt family from Fermanagh. My 3x great grandfather was a man named Thomas Spratt who was born circa 1803 in Fermanagh. He died 1st April 1868 in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland. On his death certificate his father is Thomas Spratt (Soldier/Deceased) & Rose Durnan (Deceased).

Thomas had at least two children with his first wife Mary, in Ireland (Margaret 1833, Thomas 1836). He then between 1836 and 1841 came over to Scotland where he settled in Campbeltown, Argyll and marriage Isabella Gillies on 10th June 1841, together they had - Daniel 1841, Rose 1844, Isabella 1846, Robert 1847, James 1849, John 1851, Jane 1853, Robert 1855, Isabella 1857, Mary 1861, Annie 1863, and Catherine 1866.

If anyone can help me locate births/marriages/deaths or siblings I would greatly appreciate it. I have some loose info on them but I don't know if it is reliable.

Many thanks,

Keelan

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

With or without Margaret 1833, Thomas 1836 ??

I don't know if when Thomas sr. came over to Scotland that he came over with Margaret & Thomas but both did end up in Scotland. Margaret married a John Dornan in 1857 in Greenock and Thomas Jr. may have married a Mary Jane Gillies and emigrated to the states.

I had a look at the 1901 census of Fermanagh. There were about 46 Spratts listed, an equal mix of Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland (i.e. Episcopalian).  What denomination were your family, do you know?
