Duncan McCormick origins

My 4x Great Grandfather was a man named Daniel McCormick. He was born 27 November 1811 in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He died 10 May 1888 at 17 Lyon Street, Glasgow. On his death certificate his parents are listed as Duncan McCormick (deceased) who was a City Porter, and Alice Dillon (deceased). On the death certificate the name was transcribed as McCormack. I may have found matches for other siblings of Daniel -

Edward 1816
Jane 1817

I can't find a marriage record for Duncan & Alice in Scotland, so am assuming that they came from Ireland but I don't know where in Ireland. I know it may be a long shot to try and find a marriage for them, or individual birth records for either Duncan or Alice. I don't know how common their names were in Ireland back then.

If anyone I can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Could be under Donald, the names were interchangeable!

Civil registration of marriages in Ireland began in 1864 for Catholic ones (1845 for non-Catholic) so for earlier dates you need to see I church records survive (many don't and of those that do not all are online).
However, just because you haven't found a record in Scotland it doesn't mean that the marriage could have taken place there.

The birth records for the named children above, according to catholic registers on Scotland's people the parents names are Daniel McCormick and Jesmina Dillon all born in Greenock there is no marriage on SP for a Daniel or Jesmina
