I trying to locate info on Joseph Shand born 1790 in Forgue, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and his father and Grandfather, both William Shand, born 1764 and 1730 in Forgue, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Joseph married approx 1826 in Montreal, Quebec to Isobel Maitland.

Somewhere before 1826 he came over to Canada. I can’t find any record of when.

I can’t get any further than William Shand 1730.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Scott Shand

On Find My Past, found baptism record for William Shand 16th june 1765, father William at Forgue.
This is not an actual record, only an index entry. You can, and should, have a look at the original document at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It's pay-per-view but modestly priced. The original may give additional information, for example where they lived in the parish of Forgue, or who witnessed the baptism.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

There are various sites with indexes to baptisms, banns etc, but there is only one site where you can see the full original record. Wherever you found it in an index, the original is only available at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.
