What is the Profession?
« on: Thursday 09 November 17 18:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am needing a little assistance in deciphering/confirming a profession on the below record.

The record appears within the set of records entitled 'England, Alien Arrivals, 1810-11 & 1826-69' on Ancestry.

It is the profession of the second/middle individual that I am interested in.

It shows an F Bauer, followed by the profession then states that he came from Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen.

I believe I know what the profession says, but I am not putting it here yet as I do not want to muddy the waters as it were! ;D

This could be of great importance to me, as if the profession says what i believe it says, it would then be the end of an almost 25 year search to find out where in Germany my ancestor (Francis Bauer) came from.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards

David

Hi Janan,

Many thanks for that, that is exactly what I thought it said! My ancestor Francis Bauer was a Bootmaker. I just needed a second pair of eyes to confirm what I was seeing! ;D

My thanks again.

Kind regards

David
