City Road, Walton, Liverpool 4, 1940-50s
« on: Friday 10 November 17 18:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I don't think any photographs exist, but does anybody recall a greengrocers/general store on City Road owned by Joe Wilks/Wilkes?

Also, looking for info about some people who lived in/around Nimrod Street at the same time: Winnie Hampson, Jane/Jean Scott, Betty & Sylvia Pye, Gertie Newbold, Siddie/Siddy/Sidey Wynne/Wynn?

Many thanks.

Could you give some approximate ages for the people you have asked for information?

There was a Winifred Hampson born 1928 in West Derby, showing on the 1939 register as marrying a Mr Kelly. As she shows on the 1939 register then it is highly likely that she has died.

Are the people all born around 1928?

There was a Sydney A Wynne born in March quarter 1928 in Liverpool.

He probably died on July 2nd 2011 according to death announcements on iannounce:

I can see possible sisters Betty and Sylvia Pye, born around 1935.
Neither appear to show on 1939 register, so both may be still alive.  Rootschat does not allow discussion of living people.

Approximately 15-25 years of age.

The Winifred Hampson I am interested in was born on the 3/5/27 and passed away only recently. Jane/Jean Scott died in 1992, her birth name was Catherine Jane Scott.

I don't know birth dates for the others.

I believe my Sydney died young, before his parents, so this is not my guy.

That could be correct, thanks for the heads-up on discussing living people.
