Nice one Martin....The one you posted earlier is modern day rather than WW2 and the colour of the chevrons have changed over time. I usually get advice from my son relative to the era.

Wonderful photo

What a beautiful scan, Aussielass.  It is a pleasure to work on.

And a very handsome young man.

Sorry I can't colour, but I just removed some of the specs etc.

Wiggy
Thanks Wiggy, a beautiful clean for Gordon.  My mother has wonderful memories of country holidays, when she visited her Duggan relations in Benalla (country Victoria) when she was a young girl.  When she and her aunty (1 year difference in age) rode their bikes down a country track, Gordon, (8 years her senior) and then a young man, would come to their rescue when the chains came off their bikes!!  She said he was a lovely young man!  :) :)

here we go
Thanks lord74 for your lovely colour version, it looks great.  :)

One from me too and another with a smoother finish and more contrast...Lovely photo and a great scan.
Carol
Thanks Carole for the extra information and your attention to detail, it's very much appreciated. Your colour versions are both fantastic (I had no idea of the correct uniform colour so your help with the Flight Sgt uniform was great).

Did he get his commission after the photo was taken? In this is picture he is a SNCO pilot not an officer, he's the rank of sergeant.
Yes, medpat, he was wearing his sergeant's uniform in this photo, and chances are, although not really known, he may not have had the chance to have his photo taken in his flying officers uniform before his death in 1944 (I do know that this photo was given to my great grandparents by his parents, so I have a feeling that this is the only photo they had of their son in uniform).

Attempt 2 with the more acurate wing colours etc.
Thanks Martyn for taking the time and having a 2nd go after Carol let us know the correct colours, it looks fantastic! :)

Wonderful photo
Thanks jloy326, it is a wonderful photo, as is your restored version, it's lovely.  :)

One from me
Pat
Thanks Pat for your beautiful version of Gordon, I'm sure he would be more than impressed with all the attention he has been given.

Lots of brilliant ones already but ...

Thanks japeflakes, there are lots of brilliant one's, and you have added to them with your lovely version of Gordon's photo.  ;D

Once again, thanks to everyone for your time, your expertise and the additional information provided it was all very much appreciated.   Kind Regards,  Aussielass  :) :)
