Uniform identification help, please
« on: Saturday 11 November 17 11:14 GMT (UK) »
This man, b. 1914, joined the Leicestershire Regiment in 1934 and in May 1942 he was transferred into the Pioneer Corps and whilst serving with them he was KIA in Egypt on 4 Aug 1943.  Can anyone tell me whether the uniform he's wearing in the photo belongs to the Tigers or the Pioneer Corps, please?  Appreciate that the cap badge is unclear, but I wondered if the collarless shirt and socks offered any clues?

Thanks
STG

I don't think the uniform offers any clues.  It could be said that the "working" look would be more typical of the RPC but that's guesswork.  Do you know when he was promoted to Lance Corporal, in the Leics or in the RPC?

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
