Identify uniform
« on: Saturday 11 November 17 14:17 GMT (UK) »
Please can the uniform, rank etc. be identified in attached photo of Ernest Augustus Spry Pearse (Pearce).
He was born abt 1873 in Brighton, Sussex and died abt 1928. Father: Ernest Augustus Spry Pearse (b 1849), Mother: Harriett Anne (nee Sparks).
Is it possible to find military records for Ernest?
Thank you.

Good evening,

Jim, you didn't mention anything about his other trade badge. This shows him to be a Master Gunnery Instructor, crown over crossed guns.

Not something I would associate with a clerk but rather someone of higher rank. Is it possible there are two men with same name.

Should have mentioned the Gunnery Instructor's insignia but I was working off his service record as it relates to his photo. His record has no mention of it.
Sounds like a good excuse.. almost convinced myself.
As Jebber said clerk was his pre-war job.
