Good afternoon,

I can see now what has gone on. If on st view you put the man on the spot out in the grounds nr the river, you get to see it before work started.

It shows the part that had been built along the front post the OPs photo. This plus the left hand hexagonal part have been removed. You can alsosee the double gable which is hidden from view when looking from the bridge.

So maybe a lot of damage had been done by the flooding I witnessed. Satelite view shows what must be the new frontage.

I can confirm that The Great House is still in Sonning and some construction works have recently been carried out onsite. The Great House was formerly the White Hart.

Thames in flood January 2014 at Sonning. View of the bridge on the opposite side (upstream) of The Great House. The line of trees and white posts on the right marks where the towpath can normally be used.

It varies, some areas are only a few months old as they have been updated. At the top left, under the name of where you are looking there is often the option to look at older versions. There are views on there of my house 6 years ago with my old car and a newer version of my house with my new car. As Gadget says though, the view of Sonning was last year.
