Restore please of WW1 Short Serviceman who sadly never returned!
« on: Sunday 12 November 17 01:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks,

I would be delighted if someone could restore this pic please (black & white) i.e. as it is in the original?

It would also be nice to have a bit of colour as a 2nd if possible please?

I can't find a link to the uniform showing colours but written on his Short Service Attestation is 'Scots Greys' & within a stamped image below 'Royal Scots Fusiliers'

I can only find B & W images so far so I'm unsure of the colours as for now?

Attestation accepted Apr 1916 killed Apr 1917 aged 30  :(

Hi Annie,

Is this your own photo?  If so, are you able to scan it again at 300 dpi, as the restorer's  will be able to do a much better job?
I haven't had a look at it yet, but it is a very small file, and bigger would help restorer's eyes!

Many thanks folks for your great work...

All are lovely & sorry I can't scan the image as it was a photo of a photo taken on a mobile phone  ::)

I have a post on WW1 site to try & identify the colours of the Regiment...

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=782405.0

I'm now able to give them the extra info. needed which should help?

Many thanks meantime!

Unfortunately the guys on WW1 forum were unable to identify the colours as there are no colour photos available  :(

I've had quick scout round, no colour photo of WW1 men in that regiment found, others may do better.

However, I am delighted with the outcome of the original & many thanks to all, much appreciated indeed!

Trishanne, thank you!!

I think you have the coloured one spot on...

The Reserve Cavalry Regiments were formed at the outbreak of WW1, and never had a colour uniform. They only wore khaki.
