WW1 colours for Scots Greys/Royal Scots Fusiliers?

Hi Folks,

Hoping someone can find me a link to a colour photo of the above regiment please?

I have a pic awaiting approval for the restoration board & will post a link as soon as it's available although it's in B & W.

Written on the Short Service Attestation is Corps 'Scots Greys' & within a stamped image directly below 'Royal Scots Fusiliers'

Attestation accepted (General Service Cavalry) Apr 1916 killed Apr 1917 aged 30 (if that helps with identifying the colours)?

By WW1 the traditional scarlet uniforms of the British Army had been largely replaced by Khaki?

There are some colour pictures of dress uniforms, dated in the early 1900's.

Just a final point: "colours" usually refers to the Regimental Flag, or Standard.

Might be worth checking that the regiment he ended up with was one or the other.  Can you post his name and a number?

I have now had time to check the Memorial & this is what is stated...

"Service Unit: 2nd Royal Scots Fusiliers"

His name is Peter Douglas, Service No. 34800

I think the mention of "Scots Greys" was overwritten, and he was never a part of that Regiment?
Note that the Regimental Service Number was scratched out, too.

There are a few mentions, in his service record, of being in the 1st Reserve Cavalry Regiment at Aldershot:
Attested 23rd February 1916
To Army Reserve 24th February 1916
Mobilized 11th April 1916
Posted to S. C. Depot 13th April 1916

Posted 15th April 1916 to 1st R C Regt, Aldershot.
Transferred to 2nd Bn. Royal Scots Fusiliers on 2nd December 1916.

Following up K Garrad's outline of his service, the photo on the other thread shows him in cavalry uniform which would have been in the period Feb to Dec 16 when it seemed as if he was destined to be a cavalryman.   His active service was indeed as a Royal Scots Fusilier. 

I've had quick scout round, no colour photo of WW1 men in that regiment found, others may do better.

Max for the dating/type of uniform as that's also a great help!

I did spend a lot of time searching for the colours to no avail & thought I just hadn't found the correct places but it does seem as if I had tried all areas after all & none to be had :-\

It doesn't detract from the original but colours would have been good!
