Help with Ireland please!
« on: Monday 13 November 17 14:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am trying to do some family history for my step-mum, but have no access to Ireland records and never searched them before. Was wondering if anyone could help please.

She has told me that her mother was Teresa Rose Curran, born in Waterford on 6 October 1931, to Thomas and Catherine Curran.

I tried having a look but nothing come up. If there are any Ireland experts I'd greatly appreciate the help! Thank you :)

If you check Ireland Resources you'll find a lot of Resources for Ireland.

For example... https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/civil-records/help/what-civil-records-are-on-line

The years covered by the release of the historic Indexes to the Civil Records of Births, Marriages and Deaths are:

Births: 1864 to 1915

Marriages: 1845* to 1940

Deaths: 1864 to 1965

*non-Roman Catholic Marriages are recorded from 1845, Roman Catholic Marriages are recorded from 1864

Register images of the Civil Records of Irish Births, Deaths and Marriages

The years covered by the release of the historic records of Births, Marriages and Deaths are:

Births: 1864 to 1915

Marriages: 1882** to 1940

Deaths: 1891** to 1965

If you go to https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

Just put Surname in, and Search.

They will be under one of the following Districts

Carrick on Suir
Clogheen
Clonmel
Dungarvan
Kilmacthomas
Lismore
Waterford
Youghal

which you can then select from list on Left.

Unless you know where in Waterford County.

Also, take care not to post details of anyone that might be still living!

Thanks.

There is a marriage:

Marriage of THOMAS CURRAN and KATHLEEN MCGRATH
on 01 February 1915
Group Registration ID   1786244
SR District/Reg Area   Waterford

But if you click on the image, it says Catherine McGrath AND Kathleen McGrath...

I suddenly thought to try family search. I typed in Teresa's name, and got this:

Name   Teresa R M Curran
Event Type   Birth
Event Date   Jan - Mar 1932
Event Place   Waterford, Ireland
Registration Quarter and Year   Jan - Mar 1932
Registration District   Waterford
Mother's Maiden Name   Mcgrath
Volume Number   4

What do you reckon?
