Irish Genealogy UPDATE (in progress)
« on: Monday 13 November 17 22:39 GMT (UK) »
So excited I haven't even read all the post yet
http://www.irishgenealogynews.com/2017/11/irishgenealogyie-adds-more-free.html

The 1916 births are there.
Seems to be large chunks of the death index before 1891 missing, this I assume is a good sign but a bit more waiting to do.
Marriage images seem to be back to 1868

Mixed results depending on the area, updates don't seem to be across the entire country yet.

I have been transcribing Ireland civil registration records for FamilySearch for some time & there was a big push the other weekend. Could these be those records? The timing of release may be coincidental.

I imagine the death records are lagging behind birth/marriage because transcribers like me choose the latter not only are they slightly more useful for family history as they give family members names and occupations but the death entries are so depressing to transcribe.

These have nothing to do with Familysearch.

The surprises just never end with this family tree stuff.
My grand aunt had an unknown number of children that died shortly after birth, I'd found 3 girls but my mother thought there was a boy at some point but the only likely looking cert I bought wasn't him, I must have forgotten to look since because today I found him born and died 1911 but the big surprise was finding my Uncle born 1916 not 1917 as everyone though, this means even his headstone is incorrect. I hadn't spotted him on FamilySearch because the mother's maiden name isn't on the index there and he has a second name, when I told my mother she just said 'Oh yes, he hated that name so we were never allowed to say it." she certainly didn't let him down on that score.

These have nothing to do with Familysearch.
Then it will be another bonus when the Familysearch ones are released, as fathers' names are indexed too, aiding finding of births & marriages.
