Florence Emily Whopples

An unusual name by any standards - but difficult to trace.  She was the widow of a Polish Airman (Andrzej Kwiecien) who was killed in the early days of the War.  I have been lead to believe that she died about 1972 but cannot find a record of it under her maiden or married names.

There is a possibility that she remarried but can anyone suggest how I might find this out?  Would she have registered as Whopples or Kwiecien or would that be a question of choice?

As far as I know, she lived all her life in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

The second and third names are the same person but the spelling errors make a difference; her first husbands name was not Kwiccien Andrzey but Andrzej Kwiecien which is probably why my searches didn't find it!  The second marriage I just missed.

She had a daughter born after her first husband was killed but I can't search for her on here as she is probably still alive.

I know that I cannot mention living people on here but I would like to express my appreciation to Rootschat and especially to solidrock whose information on the second and third marriages of Florence Emily Whopples proved critical in what happened next!

Although Florence is long dead, I have managed to contact the family and bring the English and Polish sides together and they are talking as I type!

I forgot to mention that this is the first family contact since 1937 and amazingly there is still one living member on each side!  They are both very elderly but both compos mentis.

I have discovered that the marriage took place on 27th November 1941, probably at St Paul's RC Church, Nuneaton.  Is there anyway that I can find out who signed the register as witnesses to the wedding.

Apply for the wedding certificate to get the names of the witnesses.
