help with occupation

Can anyone help with deciphering the 'occupation' of Evan Frances in 1871. In previous censuses he was recorded as a weaver.

It looks like  a Union <something>. Can you give more details so we can look at a larger image, please?

The first word is definitely Union, but I can't make anything sensible yet of the second word  :-\

I can't make sense of it either

I wondered if their income was coming from the parish/union  :-\

Got it enlarged but, like Rosie - could it be something to do with parish?

Sorry, Jennifer - you image didn't show on the listing  :-\

Could it be an attempt at Pauper? Some of the spellings in that piece seem a bit unconventional, so maybe the writer, or the people whose returns he was copying from, was more proficient in Welsh than English.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

I was thinking along the same lines. Searching the census with the term union p* as an occupation seems to result mainly with 'union pauper' or 'union pay'.
