Pennels Yard

I have just found a map of old Nottingham, which shows Pennels Yard,which is where my 3Ggrandfather lived during his married life.It is one of those numerous passageways I remember, which ran between Long Row and Parliament St. I am wondering if it is still in existence. Also he worked for George Stretton who owned the Nottingham Journal, which at that time was on Long Row, with a warehouse on Parliament St.Is there any trace left of this?

Looking on the map Pennell's Yard appears to be roughly on a line of Queen Street and the bottom end of King Street. Going by the age of the Watson Fothergill building at the corner of Long Row and King Street, Queen's Chambers, built during the time of Queen Victoria's Jubilee, it would appear that the alley had been demolished by the 1890's. Note the Bell Inn in the picture should not be confused with the Bell Inn at the Western end of Old Market Square. That pub is one of Nottingham's oldest.
All the frontages on Long Row are from the 1890's or later. The Nottingham Journal moved to Pelham Street in 1860. The building is still there and has a unique architectural design.

That there should actually be a picture of Pennels Yard is very exciting. Bit later than my ancestor but it probably hadn't changed that much.
