Kent Acts
« on: Friday 17 November 17 00:15 GMT (UK) »
I've been using the Canterbury Probate Records Database a lot recently and I wondered if anyone can tell me which court the Acts were registered in?

I have references starting PRC/3 but I am not sure if that refers to the Archdeaconry Court or the Consistitory Court.

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt

Does this link to the Kent Archives Catalogue help?

https://www.kentarchives.org.uk/collections/getrecord/GB51_DCb_PRC

Gave me a bit of a surprise as the Catalogue has changed in the last couple of months!

The Notes page of the database sets out the parishes covered by each court ...

Thanks for that link. I've had a quick look at it but I think I am still unsure which court the reference I have relates to. However I am going to read it again later and hopefully it will give me more information.

Thanks again

Matt

New Archive catalogue gave me a surprise as well - it has happened very recently. Now I shall have to relearn it.

Ahh Matt I am sorry my fault. The link only gets you to the PRC description.

Use the link and then click on "Browse by Hierarchy" where you will see a list of PRC references.

Agree Top of the Hill.  Just glad that it changed after I had been using it extensively for a research project which had a time limit!

Doesn't seem too bad so far but will continue to play.

Hi Matt

Did you manage to access the catalogue and identify the relevant Court?
