« on: Friday 17 November 17 16:09 GMT (UK) »
Jean Anderson married Robert Smith at Forfar on 15 November 1827 according to records at Scotlands People. He was described as a "weaver" and both were "of this parish"
Family Search shows they had four children:
James 1828
Isobel 1830
Mary1832
Alexander 1835
Now for the hard part ------who were Jean Anderson's parents and when was she born.
All contributions gratefully received!

Do you know what became of them afterwards? Did they stay in Scotland? Have you found them in any census?

If they died in Scotland after 1855 their death certificates should tell you the names of their parents. See www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Forfarian,
Thank you for your response.
Robert Smith lived and worked in and around Forfar. He is buried in Newmont Hill.
1841/51/61/71 has him at Wellbrae with his wife Rebecca.
His death certificate has him married 1st to Jane Anderson 2nd to Rebecca Watt.
I guess Jane Anderson died circa 1836 as Roberts 1st child to Rebecca was born in 1838.

Ah. Then your chances of finding out for certain who her parents were are very slim. If Robert's parents were James and Mary, there is a better than even chance that Jean's were Alexander and Isobel/Isabella.
