Albert Horatio Victor Osborne Royal field Artillery

Would anyone be able to provide details on the above, he also served with the RAMF .
His numbers were 1027468, 49101, 4091.
He was awarded the Military Medal during WW1, he also has a LSGC medal.
Think he was a WO1/2.

From his MM record, he was serving with 1 Reserve Brigade RFA which I don't think is a lot of help.  He is there noted as RSM - Regimental Sergeant Major which was a WO1 appointment. (one transcription and the medal roll has Battery SM which is a WO2 appointment).

The 1914 Star roll shows his unit on deployment to war on 23 Aug 1914 as 32 Brigade RFA.  Brief outline here

Major clue though is the 7 digit number which means he was serving after 1920 and hence his records will still be with MOD.  https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records and not on line.

  Edited - RAMF  - Boer war.  Makes sense with going to the Great War essentially on day one, he was a regular and had served sine 1900 ish at least.

Thank you for that, i think RAMF is Royal artillery mounted rifles. I will try to get a copy of service record.

The RA Mounted Rifles were also known as the RA Mounted Regiment and were formed from men of batteries already in South Africa.  Can't track it down but there is/was a book by Phil Jobson on the units of the RAMR. Can't turn him up on the Boer war medal rolls though.

Thanks MaxD, in the meantime I found out that he was born in 1893 and joined up in 1907 in Edinburgh as well as serving in WW2.

More snippets.  Left the army in 1935, re-joined Section E Reserve in 1938, called up (probably 1939) was at the Anti Aircraft Training Centre at Deolali India in Aug 42.  Final discharge 1954.

He appears in the Army List in the Sergeant Majors roll up to 1946  (FindMyPast confuses him with an RV Osborne 2/Lt and sometimes AV Osborne 2/Lt.

I'd be a bit wary of the RAMF in the Boer War as he was only 9 when it ended!
