Mozilla Quantum

Several people commented that Mozilla Quantum is good for those with slow wifi.  Does it work with W10 as a replacement for Edge?

It works very well with our Win 10, Win 7 and Mac OS machines, Carol.

And much quicker  :)

Added - not on slow WiFi though.

Am on W10 and it is working fine.  Never used Edge.

Thanks both :)

That's the kind of answer that even I can understand!

I've never used Edge, I just don't like Mozilla Quantum and it didn't seem any faster than Mozilla 56.0.2 on my laptop.  My husband didn't like it on his tablet either.  My problem is that I've had to turn off updates because with updates turned on Mozilla insists on updating to Mozilla Quantum.  So even though I've refused the update a few times, I now have a little white arrow in a small green circle permanently on my task bar which is Mozilla trying to entice me to update.  I'm not happy that we are, apparently, being bulldozed into an update.

I read your thread, Lizzie, and was a bit concerned about the update from what you said. However, both my husband and I have found Quantum fine - it's faster and everything has been transferred and no problems at all. Maybe you have particular Add-ons that are causing your problems.

An alternative would be Chrome* but I'm a Firefox fan (even on the Mac  :) )

* which is good on slow connections

I don't think it's the add-ons, in fact one of my problems is that I use Reminder Fox for all my forthcoming appts etc. and it's not compatible with Quantum and although it is suggested there is an alternative, there didn't seem to be one.

"Does it work with W10 as a replacement for Edge?"

For me, yes, 10Home and 10Pro.

There will be a problem or three with add-ons.
( in effect, they all have to catch up )

Colour(ful)tabs is one having early problems. New version 0 users _colour. . . . already available.
