For reference, the 1861 census shows:

Lewis, Joseph  Head  M  75  Sand Dealer  b Sedgley, Staffs
Lewis, Sarah  Wide  F  75  b Sedgley

It's always useful to show ages, birthplaces and occupations ;D
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

I know the couple had 10 children between their marriage in 1806 and 1834 all but three are either married or dead by 1841 the remaining three were
John bap 1822 Sedgley born Upper Gornal (Free Reg) he married a Mary Stanley in Stourbridge district 1842 I can't find him in 1841. He may be significant as his mother was also nee Stanley and I can't find parents for either his mother or his wife its all very strange.
Sarah born 1829 Sedgley and Susannah born 1834 both baptised Sarah in Sedgley and Susanna in Gornal These baptisms are on Family search but NOT on Free Reg which is again odd
As I only have one census for Sarah I can;t be sure of her birth year and place I think I have a death for her age 80 in 1863 (GRO index) but the 1861 census has her age as 75

FreeREG has Sarah's baptism - 2 August 1829 at St Oswald, Sedgley, parents Joseph (Labourer) and Sarah.  Gornall registers have not been transcribed by FreeREG.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I am still desperately looking for Joseph Lewis and his wife Sarah on either or both the 1841 and 1851 censuses
I think Joseph was born in Upper Gornal in 1787 although he was said to be 75 from Sedgley on the 1861 census
His wife Sarah was also said to be 75 from Sedgley on the 1861 census
They had married in Kingswinford in 1806 and by 1841 had had 10 children the last two baptised in Sedgleyand but died in Ruiton before the 1841 census. the only unmarried child alive in 1841 was John born 1822 Sedgley. As they were trading in Sand they could be anywhere. If anyone can spot them please let me know.
i am fairly sure that Joseph was the son of a sand pounder named Charles LEWIS but i have not found a SARAH STANLEY of the right age baptised in SEDGLEY.
One of their sons married a Mary STANLEY she was daughter of Richard STANLEY who was son of William STANLEY but I cant get further back than William to see if he had a sister Sarah
Help they are a big head ache
