Finding correct death for Thomas Broadhead-
« on: Monday 20 November 17 22:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to narrow my search for birth & death, burial records for my 2nd great grandfather
Thomas Broadhead- his marriage in 1871 to Mgt Sutton states he was born Pontefract and his father was also Thomas.

I got his birth from free bmd 1839 and also from find my past states parents Thomas & Elizabeth so I think its the correct birth although his marriage date says birth abt 1842.

The death I have narrowed it down too is

First name(s)
THOMAS

Last name
BROADHEAD

Gender
Male

Birth day
-

Birth month
-

Birth year
1837

Age
62

Death quarter

Death year
1899

District
Leeds

County
Yorkshire

Volume

Country

Record set

I just wondered if anyone could look this up to see if its a match please?

The last address I have for him is 4 powell street in hunslet which was on the 1891 census.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Jo

1881 census confirms his birthplace as Pontefract and his birthyear as 1840

Members of the public do not have access to death certs - you would have to buy a copy

Hi

His burial at Leeds, Becket Street Cemetery has these details

Thomas Broadhead of 6 Gresham Street, Leeds, he was a leather dresser and was buried February 9th 1899 aged 62.

Grave number was 9267 - looks like it may have been a public grave as there are others buried around that date with the same number.

Wonder if this is his wife's burial?

Margaret A Broadhead buried 1 Feb 1919 aged 71 in the Old Holbeck Cemetery.

Plot no: 12004
Register reference: 18134

Holbeck cemetery records that I can find online are between the dates 1895 - 1921

Hi Claire,
yes that's his wife Margaret, I managed to find a grave receipt for her from my great aunt. We went and found the grave in leeds last week and visited.

It appears that something happened with their marriage as I cannot find wife mgt & daughter Minnie on 1891 census only Thomas and other children and then after that mgt & Minnie living with a john fallon and both surnames given as fallon but no marriage recorded.

Not sure why Mgt would only take her youngest child with her and not any others and then change her name??

I'm struggling to find the correct death record for Thomas.
Mgt is widowed on the 1911 census so must have died before census and he is on the 1891 census transcribed as Broadbent and living in powell st.
