That would explain why they called their son James Peters YATES

And he followed in his father's footsteps and was a wessleyan preacher in1911

James Yates, bachelor, 21, Office Clerk, of Foregate St., Chester, son of James Yates, Mariner, and Ann Peters, spinster, 25, Dressmaker, of Brook St., Chester, dtr of John Peters, Builder, married by Banns 11th Dec 1843, St John, Chester. Witnessed Mary Harrison & Jane Yates. Minister W.B. Marsden.
