Robert Barr 1766 - his occupation
« on: Tuesday 21 November 17 14:24 GMT (UK) »
I have the baptism record of my ancestor John Barr on 30 Nov 1766, son of Robert Barr and Catherine Sinclair at Glasgow but I cannot understand the occupation of Robert Barr on a page where everything is very clear. It looks like Ca n or u si xx. I have scanned it, but how do I get the scan here so you clever Scots can read it for this technologically challenged English grandma?

In the meantime......did he have siblings whose baptisms you could look up?  The word might be easier to read on theirs or give a clue  ;)

Good suggestion, thanks, to which I may resort but I'm hoping to avoid spending another 6 credits on a direct ancestor's sibling if someone can tell me how to attach my image. It is easy to read for anyone who knows the vocabulary!
