Murphy, Newcastle
« on: Saturday 25 November 17 06:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi.  Conducting a search on behalf of a cousin who is searching for the Murphy family from around the Newcastle area in the 1950's.  The gentleman in particular that is being searched for may still be alive, therefore I won't put his name on here - but I can state that he was one of ten children and his father worked for a radio station in Newcastle.  In the early 1980's this particular gentleman was living in Redfern.

Can anyone advise how I should go about trying to locate this family at all?

I can give the name of the gentleman via direct message.  Thanks for helping.

Why can't you post the parents' names or at least the father's name.  Would his father have been a journalist?

Not many MURPHY's on the 1980 electoral roll living at Redfern.

What was his occupation?

Have you checked the Ryerson Index for his death?

Information is scarce unfortunately - hence my option of trying to see whether anything could be found on here.

I do not know the occupation of the gentleman in question unfortunately Cando.  I will definitely try the Ryerson Index.

Thank you cupoflife....that's why I asked if the man's occupation was journalist.

This MAY be the probate notice of the person who was enrolled to vote at the same address in 1963 in Newcastle.

MURPHY   Lindsay Ida   Probate notice 31 Aug 2010   Publication
Late of Booragul

And
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Murphy-4338

Patrick Murphy worked as a journalist in Sydney. In 1938 he married Lindsay Ida Monteith of Reefton, New Zealand. During their marriage he and Lindsay moved several times whilst in Sydney and in the 1960's moved to Newcastle for a time.
