George Frearson 1831 Burbage and Parents?
« on: Saturday 25 November 17 16:20 GMT (UK) »
*Disregard my last Frearson post, Its been discovered it was not my line after further research*

Hi
Looking for a bapt for my 4th grt grandfather George Frearson, On all census records from 1861-1911 he lists birthdate and place as Burbage, Leicestershire 1831. On his marriage to Eliza Staines 1850 Leicester he lists his father as George Frearson, A Framework knitter.
I've found his parents George on the 1851 Census given as George Frearson born abt 1798 Nuneaton, Warwickshire and Mary born abt 1787 Plymouth, Devon. There is also a marriage between George Frearson and a Mary Butler 18 Dec 1824 Burbage, Leicester. I've also found a 1788 bapt Plymouth, Devon for a Mary Butler.
It seems George and Mary also had a daughter Jane Frearson who would be sister to my George, She went on to marry a Gale, She was born around 1825 on the 1851 census but there is no bapt for her.
I assume Jane and George were not baptised for some reason, Perhaps non conformists?
I cant find George and Mary and children on the 1841 census or my George and his wife Eliza on the 1851 census.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

George may be down as George Freeston, baptised on 27th May 1831 at Burbage, son of George, F.W.K., and Mary.

Hi
Sorry forgot to reply.
Yes thank you so much between this post and one on ancestry we've found that this is the correct family.
It seems even though the family name is Frearson atleast going to my grt grt nan, The name has been wrote on earlier records as Freeston/Freedon/Freestone/Freerstone.
The brickwall we have now is finding out who George born 1831 Burbage mother was.
His father is George Frearson bapt 1797 Nuneaton son of George and Jane (I'm still struggling to find a bapt for father George and subsequent marriage to Jane)
His mother is Mary Butler and according to census records she was born abt 1787 Plymouth, Devon.
on the Marriage to George Frearson 18 Dec 1824 Burbage it isnt noted if she is a widow or not. Mary would be 36 and George would be 27.
But it was found that Mary was indeed married to a George Butler who died in 1822 If I remember correctly and had 2 daughters Catherine and Mary (Daughter Mary Butler born abt 1819 Burbage is living with Mary and George Frearson in 1841 along with an unknown Lydia Butler aged 3)
We have still yet to find the Marriage between Mary and George Butler but could possibly be in Earl Shilton Mary Iliff and George Butler 1802 or 1804 (I dont have the record to hand at minute) but this would put Mary's age out on the censuses and age at burial.

Do you see witnesses names on this document?

The following doesn't tie in with Mary Butler being born in Plymouth but:-

A Mary Butler (mother of Lydia?) married John Clarke in Leicester on 5th July 1841. She gave her father as George Butler, labourer, and one of the witnesses was Thomas Iliffe. The other was Mary Mortimer.

Thomas Ilife may have been born in Stretton Parva in 1803, son of Robert and Lydia, and appears on the censuses with his sister, Lydia Spawton.

Robert was probably the son of John and (H)ester. They had two daughters named Mary or Marey. The second in 1780 could be the one who married George Butler in 1802. There is a possible baptism at St Mary de Castro in 1807 of Elizabeth Butler.
