I think you are looking at 2 different people.  I don’t have Premium membership so can’t view the Chelsea Pensioner record but on his attestation papers in 1915 he says he has never served in any other branch of HM forces

The link says you can only access that record if you have Ancestry Premium Membership  - which I do have as my subscription renewal has just arrived!!

However - it won't allow me access to "Fold 3" so I assume it's Premium for Ancestry.com - not co.uk

CaroleW is there any way of seeing if there are records of the Thomas Gearon remaining in Surrey to ensure it is not the same person?

I agree with CaroleW there are two different people with the same name.
The Thomas Gearon with Chelsea Pension Records STARTED his service in 1900 the 1st Royal Rifle Reserve Regiment.
The 1901 census of Portsmouth Hampshire has him listed as age 37 born Bermondsey Surrey, married
and with the 1st Royal Rifle Reserve Regiment and 4th Oxford Light Infantry Battalion.
(He could be the one with parents Patric and Mary.
1871 he is age 12 in St Mary Magdelen Bermondsey, born circa 1859.
ADDED he is possibly the Thomas R Garron who married Alice E re 1901)

The one you are looking for married 1889 and stayed in Ireland, you will need the marriage certificate to get his fathers name.

Hi All,

I have got myself a copy of the marriage certificate of Thomas Gearon who was married in Belfast in 1889 to Kate Kennedy.

The residence at the time of his marriage has Thomas living at the Military Barracks.  His father is Patrick and is listed as a Bricklayer.

I have been advised that the St. Patrick's Church record of the marriage identified the groom's parents as Patrick Gearon and Mary Quinlan, the bride's parents as James Kennedy and Kate Fitzpatrick, the groom's parent's address was given as 4 Rotherhithe Rd, Bermondsey, London.

Perhaps this is why the Bermondsey connection now?

Looking forward to any details on Patrick Gearon and Mary Quinlan that may come to light if possible please?
