Benjamin Roberts b 1795 /1799
« on: Sunday 26 November 17 05:11 GMT (UK) »
is anyone able to look up either parish records for birth for the above I know he was born in Hollywell ,Flintshire there is  a possibility his  parents may be John Roberts and Catherine.
I have managed to trace him to Liverpool as his daughter Maria Roberts b 1828c  married James Higham in 1852 in Liverpool and their  marriage certificate stated his occupation as Bookkeeper and in the 1851 Liverpool census he is in a workhouse and a widower. I am unable to find him in the 1841 census  although I believe he married about 1821 to Ann Baldwin in Liverpool. If anyone can assist it would be much appreciated - Glenys Queensland  Australia

From Free Reg:- Marriage Benjamin  Roberts/Ann  Baldwin,  22  Sep 1821..  St Anne Richmond, Liverpool. Both of Liverpool. Groom's occupation - "accomptant" (?).

From Free Reg:- Baptism. Benjamin Roberts  5 March 1798  Salon, Holywell, Flintshire. Parents  -  Moses and Anne Roberts. Could be yours.

I note in an earlier post you mention a possible Jewish connection.

Free Reg records the baptism of Joshuah Roberts, son of Moses and Anne, at Sieon (chapel?), Holywell, on 15 Nov 1800.

Moses, Benjamin, Joshua - suggests a Jewish influence, but "baptism"  presumably Christian. Perhaps a conversion?

Whilst of course it is entirely possible,it is not necessarily so.At this time many families chose Biblical names for their children.
