Donal O'Sullivan burial
« on: Sunday 26 November 17 05:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am going to Spain LaCoruna to photograph the burial monument of Donal O'Sullivan.
He  apparently has his remains in a chapel called 3 Maria's in La Coruna after being murdered in Madrid.
Can someone please tell me where his remains are located or where the 3 Maria's chapel is located in la Coruna.?
Thanks so much

Is this the battle of Kinsale, Donal O'Sullivan 1581 to 1618?
If so there was a documentary a while back and if I remember correctly the memorial is on a wall between some buildings pretty much forgotten and difficult to find.

Might have been this I saw the memorial on.

It's on the RTE Player but I don't have time to watch it just now.

If it's the correct Donal I'll have a look later.

Watched just the end of that program and I don't think it's the correct one.
However on this site https://businessandfinance.com/a-coruna-connections/ it says he attended church in Santa Maria del Campo

This person is looking for his grave in Madrid

This is bugging me, I clearly remember watching someone finding a memorial on a wall in a tiny yard, they were giving out that it would be lost forever if not taken care of, perhaps I'm wrong and it wasn't for Donal but someone else.

Thanks for your help.
It is the correct Donal and I am amazed that it is so elusive.
Will spend a couple of days in LaCoruna so will get a photo and post if I find it.

Wonder if there's a local tourist board that can help?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Some nice bits of info here
https://offalyhistoryblog.wordpress.com/2017/09/02/the-osullivans-in-santiago-de-compostela-by-elias-cueto/#more-3299
but of possibly more interest is the new research it mentions which will be published in English.

The expert in the Evelyn O'Rourke documentary (that wasn't the one I was looking for) about the Spanish part of Donal's life was Dr. Hiram Morgan, perhaps he would know.
