Looking for a photograph of David BONTHRON
« on: Sunday 26 November 17 07:00 GMT (UK) »
David was a Scot, who emigrated to Invercargill in 1863. He was heavily involved in the temperance movement, and was a founder of the Total Abstinence Society, in Invercargill. When David and his wife Isabella moved to Pahia, near Orepuki, in the 1880s, the society presented David and his wife with portraits of themselves. I have a copy of Isabella's portrait, from the Riverton museum, but they don't have David's, and I wonder if anyone here might know its whereabouts. David was my wife's 2nd great grandfather. He died in 1903.
