Holyland thread
« on: Monday 27 November 17 19:41 GMT (UK) »
Does anybody have connections to Stamford/Stanford Holyland? There appears to be 3 Stamford/Stanford which I assume are all my related ancestors that lived in Leicestershire. Thank you for your help

Have you checked the Surnames Interest Table on RootsChat?

Scroll down to the bottom of any RootsChat page.
In the dark-brown box, underneath the heading "Your Tools!, you will find a link to Surname Interests.

Having said that, you didn't mention any dates?

There is a baptism:
3 April 1825 at Kirby Bellars, Leicestershire
Stamford Holyland, son of William & Ann Holyland.

and
1 March 1715 at Thornton, Leicestershire
Stanford Holyland, son of Thomas & Margaret Holyland
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Thank you KGarrad – your baptisms and places are correct. (lets call them Stam(n)ford 1 & 3).
Stam(n)ford 2  (my direct ancestor) was born at Glen Parva in 1779.
The problem is connecting them together.
To connect Stan(m)ford 1 & 2 together I think I need a Thomas born 1720’s ( perhaps the son of Thomas & Margaret Holyland

To connect them together you need to work methodically to find documentary evidence! ;D
That means baptisms, marriages, wills, and censuses.

Go back one generation at a time.
