Hannington, Wiltshire occupation.
« on: Tuesday 28 November 17 11:12 GMT (UK) »
"Male & female servants" are clear enough, but I am having difficulty with the first occupation in this 1841 census entry. I know what I want it to be but do not want to influence proceedings at this stage.
Many thanks for any good ideas. Toby.

Thanks JenB. I can live with your "independant". I think this was the Joseph Jarvis who is seen in the 1831 Cricklade Election as a blacksmith living in Broad Blunsdon. At 80 he must surely have retired and become "independant"!
His burial in 1842 in Broad Blunsdon churchyard describes him as " of Hannington". All seems to tie up nicely. Thanks.
