Will of Thomas Watson 1601
« on: Tuesday 28 November 17 15:27 GMT (UK) »

I am hoping someone here might be able to help me identify some people named in the will of my ancestor Thomas Watson of Chilham who died in 1601.

In his Will Thomas mentions his mother Anne who he describes as 'now wife of William Downe of Godmersham'

William Downe of Godmersham and Ann Watson 'of same parish, widow' were married by Licence in 1600 (Licence dated 18 Feb 1600).

Ann's first husband 'Mr Watson' must therefore have died before 1600 but I don't know if he was from Godmersham or Chilham. If anyone can find Ann's first marriage to Mr Watson or a possible burial for him it would be helpful and appreciated.

Also Thomas mentions his 'uncle' William Cubb so he could be a brother of Ann although I am not certain of that.

Many Thanks
