Does it say "This day John Ross alias mac George Jacks man at Fearne and his spouse..."?!

And why is there a definite gap between "Jacks" and "man"..?

The Fs, Ts and Js are written very similarly.  (add - compare T in This and Tack....)

This is a good ref for Scottish occs.

Gadget has it with Tacksman, so we're not talking about the poor here! This pair will almost certainly be buried at Fearn Abbey & have a stone. I think this is available online!

It might also be worth checking the index of the National Records of Scotland for evidence of this tack i,e a deed! Scotlands People might also have his will.

Skoosh.
