Eva Rosina Bindley - what happened to her?
« on: Thursday 30 November 17 05:47 GMT (UK) »
This is what I have: Eva born 1905 Norwich, England, immigrated 1910 with Mother, Rosina Croft Bindley to join father, Arthur James Bindley in Winnipeg. Information found: Eva a resident at Winnipeg Children's Home age 5-14. Found on 1921 census as a domestic servant in Winnipeg (age 14). No information found on Rosina after 1912. Arthur James Bindley re-married 1918.

Hi

Welcome to RootsChat

Privacy laws are very strict in Canada which makes it difficult to find information.  There is no BMD index as in the UK - quite possibly Eva married and that information is not not accessible.

Her father Arthur James Bindley born 1 Marh 1878 passed away in Vancouver 4 April 1964 - widower - retired bricklayer - informant was his son (possibly George Bindley) who also lived in Vancouver.

Death Cert - http://search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/Image/Genealogy/202d291e-ed8d-454a-8879-175781e3fe43

Have you contacted the Vancouver library to see if there is an obituary which might name Eva ?

RAOGK have a volunteer who may be able to help - have a look on this list.

There is an entry on FIND A GRAVE FOR Arthur James Bindley - buried Mountain View cemetery. Vancouver. PLOT KP/*/*/032/0013

Death Cert for Helen Bindley - 11 April 1963 - informant was the son George Bindley.

Canada Voters List 1953 - East Pender Street - Arthur J Bindley (retired) Mrs A J Bindley and Gertrude Hanson (housewife - probably the daughter)

The son George Bindley born in 1917 married to Jean according to Canada Voters Lists.  A Jean Bindley passed away at the 2995 Turner Street Vancouver address in 2015/2016 - The British Columbia Gazette was advertising for people with any claims on the estate to come forward.

Thanks so much to everyone especially Kitty's  post. I knew Gertrude, Arthur, James were siblings from 2nd marriage. Eva was my great great aunt - 'the big family secret', never spoken of, nor recorded in family history. I will follow up with the info from the Winnipeg obit.
