Edward Watson

I don't know if anyone can help here but hopefully someone can.

I'm looking for the marriage of Edward Watson and Anne sometime before 1645.

Their first son Thomas was born in Faversham in 1645 and their second child Isaac was born in Faversham in 1647.

So far no possible marriage has been found for Edward and Anne in Faversham so I suspect they may have married elsewhere.

Thanks for that. Edward and Anne's two sons were born in Faversham, Kent. Does this record give any indication of where this Edward and Anne were from? Do you think it likely that they were from London and moved to Kent? Is there any clue to Edward's background or age?

Sorry Absolutely nothing else just what I have put on.
They could have been from any where and been in service in London.
If they were Faversham is as good a guess as any .only 50 miles distant with good road link .

Ok thanks for the info. It does seem a little bit of a way away but I will keep that one in mind.

Grandarog was on the money, London and Surrey Marriage Allegations has Edward Watson, age 40, yeoman of Fenersham Kent married Ann Ward, age 30, of St Andrew Holborn, 16 Feb 1643.

It's very hard to read the original but would be Faversham.

Thank that's fantastic news. I've been looking for Edward's marriage for a while and had no idea where it was as I hadn't found it in Faversham or any of the neighbouring parishes. This definitely looks like it based on the info given.

I agree that Fenersham is certainly Faversham, in fact Faversham could have been written as Feversham, then mis-transtribed or typed as Fenersham.

The only Edward I've found that fits is in 1601 and given that Edward's age might have been rounded up I think that could well be him.

So how did he end up marrying a woman from London? How on earth did they meet?

Ok next task is to investigate Ann's background to see if that gives any more clues.

This might be Ann's christening:

Ann Warde - chr 2 March 1616 St Andrew's Holborn - daughter of Edward and Ellen.
There are three other children that I've found:

Sarah - 1618
Elizabeth - 1621
Robert - 1623

It looks like Edward may have died between 1623 and 1625 as there is a Will proved in the PCC for "Elianor Ward, Widow of Saint Andrew Holborn" in 1625 who could be the mother.

Just looked at the Will of Elianor Ward and it states that she is the widow of Robert Ward. There is a Robert in Holborn around the same time as Edward so the two might be brothers.

Elinor does mention her brother in law "Ward" but does not give his first name.
