Marriage on 4 September 1861 of Charles NASH and Eliza SHERWAN (more likely KERWAN) has been traced to Calton, Glasgow, Scotland.

The groom's parents are recorded as William and Jane NASH nee BYE.

I have purchased the birth certificate for the girl (no first name recorded) of  8 June 1862 in the superintendant registrars district of Farnham in the counties of Surrey and Southampton which shows parents are Charles (Corporal 76th Foot) and Eliza NASH (nee Kierwin or similar) of Sabastapol Road, Aldershot. Assume address was their army married quarters.

Am I permitted to post the certificate here as I would appreciate your view on the mother's maiden name?

Is is common for there to be no first name recorded as in perhaps the parents had not yet chosen one at the time of the birth?

I nevertheless propose to take this record as the birth certificate for my Sarah Ann NASH.

I'm inclined to say that Eliza's maiden name is KERWIN, assuming the first letter can be taken as a K?
Other interpretations would be appreciated since her surname has attracted numerous alternatives in various record transcriptions.
