Marriage in San Francisco ?

Hello , not sure if BMD's can be researched in the U S A but would be interested to see if there is a marriage of a Dorothy Eleanor Sims to a Elmer Cunningham , not sure of date but she was born 1921 .

San Mateo, California, City Directory, 1952/54  shows Dorothy and Elmer Cunningham 708 Bayswater av Burl San Mateo, California.

An earlier entry 1946 and 1947  - San Mateo, California, City Directory - 708 Bayswater Burl San Mateo - Dorothy and Elmer.

A 1942 entry shows Elmer on his own - 912 El Camino Burl Hillsborough San Mateo. Apprentice Painter.

I am wondering if Dorothy and Elmer may have got married after his possible call up in WW2 ? Could be anywhere though .

Burlingame, California, City Directory, 1942  shows Dorothy Simms - 201 1st S M Burlingame; Hillsborough; San Mateo, California.  Seamstress.

I can't see them on the marriage index, the birth index does have some Cunningham/Simms children , earliest I can see is 1946.

It might be worth looking for US Gretna Greens; perhaps they wanted to marry in a hurry:

Honorably discharged at Bay and Powell separation center in San Francisco, Elmer F. Cunningham has left the coast guard and returned to "civilian life. He has been in the service three years, 26 months of it spent overseas. He and his wife are living in San Mateo, but will return here November 1 and join his sister and brother-in-law in a week's salmon fishing at Fort Bragg
