Were the Smith family travellers?  I notice the 1851 shows James as a traveller.  What was George Smiths occupation on the 1848 marriage cert

The 1851 shows a 5yr old son James born before the marriage.  In 1861 - Olive is shown as b 1824 Brighton

Marriage was at Ringmer
James was a Chimney Sweep. For father it says "Illegitimate Son of Ann Nichols"
Olive's father was George Smith, Basket Maker
residence for both Ringmer
witnesses John Gardener, Sarah Gardener
