FUGITIVE CAUGHT FOR CHICAGO COPS
Garfield R. Pascoe, 34 years old, who walked out of the Bertillon room at the South Clark street police station In Chicago on Wednesday, Aug. 5. after having been bound over to the Cook county grand jury on a charge of forgery, was arrested in Duluth last evening by Detective Schulte just as
the fugitive was about to board a train for the West. On the evening Pascoe escaped Chief Troyer received a telegram from Chief of Detectives Halpin of Chicago to watch out for Pascoe. The message stated that Pascoe had checked his baggage to a Duluth hotel and that in all probability he would follow shortly. Detective Schulte was placed on the case and after a week's search was
successful. Pascoe is being held at headquarters until a Chicago officer arrives tomorrow.
According to the message receivfd from Chief Halpin, Pascoe was bound over to the Cook county grand jury last Wednesday morning on a charge of forgery. He is accused of having
forged some papers in a confidence game last February, that netted him $75. Following the examination at the Clark street station. Chief Halpin took the prisoner up to the sixth floor where he turned him over to the Bertillon experts to be measured and photographed. It was while the experts were preparing for their prisoner, that Pascoe walked out of the room, down six flights of stairs and out into Clark street. The entire detective force was put on his trail, but Pascoe disappeared and that night Chief Halpin sent the message to Chief Trover. .Pascoe was married and "lived at 4246 Calumet Avenue, Chicago.
