Welcome to rootschat Peter Hudson.

Are you familiar with any of the free sites such as Freebmd, Freecen, Familysearch (there are others as well)? They are generally a good first port of call.

As already suggested, it is a good idea to tell us what you already know, or what specifically you would like to know. There is no point people spending their time searching for information you already have. Posting related questions on various boards is also a no-no I'm afraid, but as you are a new member I'm sure you will be forgiven.  ;D

Top tip : a "please" and "thank you" is also appreciated.

As implied by me in other threads . . . . .

Hi Peter Hudson

Whether or not you are in South Africa, you can get what I have given by getting it online.

Freebmd.org.uk
Ancestry.co.uk / Findmypast.co.uk
and others online

Rootschatters give of their spare time for free to try and help you.

Please respect them/us by answering their questions.

Tell them/us what you want, and most importantly, what you already have.
That saves duplicating time and effort.
What a waste that is when  everyone is repeating the same research.

This is a message I have received from Peter Hudson, it was sent to me in error because he replied to the email notification instead of clicking on the blue reply button at the end of the topic

"I am a newcomer to RootsChat and apologise if I have offended anyone.
I was just trying to find out about my grandparents as my parents told me very little.
I was born in England in 1942 and emigrated to South Africa in 1962 where I now live.
My grateful thanks to "Solid Rock" for info on my one grandfather.
Also a big thank you to one of your members who posted some amazing info on my one grandmother.( his name was" Brenton Boy" or a similar name)
Peter Hudson"
