George Beese born 1841 (c) Bristol, parents George and Eliza Beese.

I have George marrying Caroline Belcher in 1861, but have no proof of this marriage.  Found a load of children for George and Caroline on the census

George Henry b 1870 mother's surname Gunter
Samson Robert b 1872 mother surname Caines
Laura b 1872 mother's surname Britton
Lucy a b 1874 mother's surname Gunter
Rose b 1875 mother's surname Britton
Nellie b 1880 mother's surname Britton
Florrie b 1882(Florence) mother's surname Britton
Florance b 1884 (Florence Elizabeth b 1883 mother's suname Gunter
Lillie b 1884
George b 1888 mother's surname Britton

Looks like 3 different families but can find no marriage between George Beese (could be Bees) and a Gunter, or a Britton.

Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be a second marriage for Caroline, in which case her maiden name (as given for children's births) could be either Gunter or Britton.

I don't understand when you say

Which children were actually with them in 1871 and 1881?

Heywood guess Sam could be Samson.  Had Mary Jane but could find no mother for her.  I guess you realise I have been looking though the GRO reg site.
