Date of photo please - William Mazzei 1887-1947

Hi

Can anybody date this photo please?

And can you give me your opinion on the ages of the gentlemen?

Do you think it might be a son (left) and father (right) or brothers?

Also, would this type of photo usually be a family photo, or did friends sit for these types of photos?

I know the man seated is my 2 x Great-Uncle (William Mazzei 1887-1947) of Cardiff, but I'm trying to work out the identity of the other chap (if he's family).

His father died in 1906 and I don't have a photo of him. But William would only be 19 when his father died, and I think he looks older than that.

1920's although the chap standing is wearing a suit more associated with the previous decade it does look well worn but he is wearing a modern shirt.
The chap seated is wearing a style typical of the 20's.

A lot of fade damage. Hope you don't mind but I've tried to give it a spruce-up, without compromising the integrity of the original too much. Wasn't sure if it should be finished in black & white or sepia so I've posted two versions.
