A missing Tywardreath Bice
« on: Monday 04 December 17 14:40 GMT (UK) »
I have been chasing a Bice from Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk backwards. Unsurprisingly, I find my area of research is now in Cornwall.

After some initial difficulty with a "Thomasina Bice" and her various spellings, I have a good line/tree.

But I am missing the patriarch! Thomasina Hendon married a male Bice, probably around 1870. I have good records of the birth of their children from 1870 onwards. In the 1881 census Thomasina gives "Sailor's Widow" for her occupation.

I am missing two notable records; The marriage, and their 1871 census.

I attach my sub-tree, with my missing Bice circled.

Thank you VERY much for that.

EDIT: An*ry show her as "Jamsine Biel"  :)

Ironically, I just found a marriage of little Ellen Jane Bice b1870 which named her father!

No, I'm an idiot.  :-[

I already had 5 GRO records for Thomasina's children naming Henwood as the MMN.

Thanks to all for your general help in finding my Bice, and the specific help in seeing the difference between Hendon and Henwood.

My little tree now looks like this.
